Georgia J. Bentley, age (79), passed peacefully into His eternal rest on Monday, March 22, 2010 in Homosassa, Florida, from complications following an extended illness. Georgia was born on April 5th, 1930 in Washington DC to Cowan Everett Jones, Sr. and Isabelle Thompson Jones. She grew up in Clearwater Florida, attended school at Florida Southern College, where she majored in Language Arts and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

Georgia was married on August 25th 1956 to James Bentley, and enjoyed being both a loving and devoted wife to Jim and loving mother to the light of her life and only child, her son Russ. She was also had interests in teaching, flower arranging, Bible Study, card playing, family boating and outings and had a love for the family animals through out her life.

Georgia is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, James “Jim” Bentley, her son Russell “Russ” Bentley of Dallas, Texas, and her brother Cowan Everett Jones, Jr. of Glastonbury, CT. She is also survived by niece Nancy Whitehead and her husband Gerry, as well as many dear, long-time friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Georgia Bentley will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes and Crematory at 11:00 am, 8495 West Grover Cleveland, Homosassa, Florida. A reception following the service will be held at 12:00 pm at the Sunflower Springs ALF 8733 W. Yulee Dr. Homosassa, FL 34448. Her final resting place will be Maple Lawn Cemetery in Bolivar NY. Georgia Bentley was a loving and gentle woman, always a lady, with a zest for life. She was loved and respected during her lifetime and will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence...
