Michael Anthony Covello, 84, of Beverly Hills (Pine Ridge), FL passed in his sleep, Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Hospice House of Citrus County.

Born May 12, 1925 in Beacon, NY, Mike was the fourth youngest of seven boys and four girls born to Pasquale and Antoinette Covello.

Dedicated to serving his country, he was classified as an expert rifleman in World War II where he served in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. During his service Mike received a Bronze Star for bravery, 2 Purple Hearts, a European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal while serving in the 79th and 90th divisions. Later he retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1985 after 28 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine; 3 sons: Michael Jr. (Cynthia), John (Jean) and Joseph (Eden); 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crossword puzzles and tinkering in his workshop.

The Service of Remembrance for Mike will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Beverly Hills Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Beverly Hills Chapel. Friends who wish may send memorial donations in Mike’s name to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O.
