The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Donald C. Garrett Sr., age 82, of Inverness, Florida, will be held at noon Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, Florida. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. He was born August 9, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, son of the late William and Dorthea (Weaver) Garrett. He died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in Inverness, FL.

Mr. Garrett was an Army veteran serving during World War II. He worked in sales and management in the automobile industry for 56 years.
|
He moved to Inverness from Leesburg in 2005 after moving from Akron 33 years ago. His hobbies included bowling, golfing and playing bingo. Mr. Garrett was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness, FL.

Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by 3 children, Dane Garrett, James Garrett and Kathy Garrett; brother Robert Garrett; sister and brother-in-law Norma and John Gilbert McCoy. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Garrett of Inverness, FL; 4 children, Richard (Pam) Garrett, Donald (Patti) Garrett Jr., Diana (Jimmie) Douglas and Dorothy Durkee; brother William (Jean) Garrett; sister Elizabeth (Jeff) McGlaughlin; sister-in-law Fran Garrett; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 expected great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
