James Charles Mills, 67, of Hernando, died suddenly at home on Thursday, June 10, 2010. He was born March 25, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Frank and Eleanor (Sladek) Blaha.

Jim served his country for 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran.
|
He graduated from the University of Missouri and worked for AT&T for 28 years before retiring to Florida in 1999.
|
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Mikes) Mills; 3 children, daughter Debbie and husband Mike Groff of Pine Ridge; son Jeff Mills and wife Cindy of Virginia; daughter Michelle and husband Jeff Chayka of North Carolina; 6 grandchildren, Austin Groff, Zachary Groff, Shannon Mills, Jason Mills, Heather Chayka and Matthew Chayka; 3 step-grandchildren, Heather (Groff) Garatty, Chadd Groff, Kelsey Groff; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Autumn Garatty and Matthew Garatty; 3 siblings, sister Joan (Mills) Gyurko of Illinois, sister Nancy (Mills) Sydenstricker of Florida, brother Ed Blaha of Illinois; 3 sister-in-laws, Jackie (Mikes) Sebesta of Georgia, Marilyn (Mikes) McMahen of South Carolina, and Sandy (Miller) Mikes of Citrus Hills.

Services for Mr. Mills will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with Military Honors afforded by the Spring Hill Marine Corp League. A gathering of family and friends will follow the Service at 11:30 AM in the Garden Room at the Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club, 505 E. Hartford Street, Hernando, FL.
